Do you want to keep your New
Years resolution this year?
Smoking is no longer allowed in Illinois--at
least, not in public.
On July 23, 2007, Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D) signed
a statewide public smoking ban. As of January 1, 2008 smoking will
be illegal in restaurants, bars, nightclubs, workplaces, and all
public buildings. Smoking will also be banned within 15 feet of
building entrances, exits, and windows.
Quit smoking
Smoking cigarettes, particularly consuming nicotine
in tobacco, has all of the characteristics of addiction: pleasant
feelings, withdrawal symptoms, tolerance, and continued use despite
the adverse effects. That's why scientists consider cigarettes to
be truly addictive. In fact, scientific evidence suggests that cigarettes
are as addictive as illegal drugs such as cocaine. Research also
indicates that the younger people are when they start smoking cigarettes,
the more likely they are to become strongly addicted to nicotine.
Quitting smoking is one of the most important and
challenging lifestyle changes an individual can make. Considering
the many health, social, and economic benefits of quitting; it is
in the smoker's best interest to quit.

Quitting
Smoking with the cold laser is safe and effective!
First, we treat points for the addiction to
nicotine, to help block your body's need for that drug; second,
we treat diet points to help control your appetite and avoid
excessive weight gain; and third we treat a lot of stress
and relaxation points to help avoid the withdrawal symptoms
that you would normally experience if you tried to quit on
your own, such as irritability, getting short tempered, etc.
We try to take away all the negative feelings and make it
a smooth transition for you.
The "cold" laser beam is used to
target energy points on the body. Focusing the laser beam
on these areas causes the body to release natural chemicals
called endorphins. Endorphins have a calming, relaxing effect
on the body that helps to reduce nicotine craving and withdrawal
symptoms. In addition to stimulating an endorphin release,
the laser stimulates the body's natural ability to detoxify
the nicotine, getting the ex-smoker through the nicotine withdrawal
more quickly.
How the Laser works
Cigarettes supply nicotine to the brain stimulating neuroreceptors
to release endorphins. Your brain realizes this increase in
endorphin production and decreases its natural production
of endorphins creating a need or “craving” for
the nicotine. The laser stimulated the neuroreceptors to produce
endorphins one again reducing the “need” for nicotine
and therefore reducing a person’s dependence on cigarettes.
The procedure takes approximately 45 minutes. We use a low-level
laser which has no heat associated with the treatment. Our
laser technicians use this "cold" laser beam to
target energy points on the body. Focusing the laser beam
on these areas causes the body to release natural chemicals
called endorphins. Endorphins have a calming and relaxing
effect on the body whch helps to reduce nicotine cravings
and withdrawl symptoms. In addition to the endorphin
release, the laser also stimulates the body's natural ability
to detoxify nicotine. Some laser
therapy clients experience a feeling of euphoria following
the smoking cessation treatment.

Why
does the laser work when other methods do not?
Attempting to quit
without an endorphin stabilization program creates and endorphinless
state where your daily craving for nicotine will increase
up to 100 times. Prescription medication such as Zyban has
side effects that may be worse than smoking itself. Nicotine
replacement products such as Nicorette and Nicoderm just continue
your dependence on nicotine.
The laser replenishes your body’s ability
to produce endorphins naturally on its own. Without the use
of harmful drugs or the senseless replacement of one nicotine
supply with another.
